Beetaloo Reservoir, South Australia

Beetaloo Reservoir is a stocked water east of Port Pirie, in the southern Flinders Ranges.

It is a stocked water with shore-based fishing for golden and silver perch and murray cod.

Because of limited shore access and no kayak access the angler is at the mercy of the movements of the fish.

The dam was built around 1890 to supply the Yorke Peninsula.

It is now South Australia’s smallest reservoir but had the largest concrete dam in the southern hemisphere when it was built, providing water for often drought-stricken Yorke Peninsula.
