Paringa is a great area to fish on the South Australian section of the Murray River.

There is a boat ramp, with good fishing below the lock on the western side of the main river.

Numerous small creeks flow off the main river and are popular with fishos chasing callop and yabbies.

A tinnie bank launch site is located below Salora off the Loxton to Paringa road.

Bank fishing on the northern side upstream from Lyrup is often productive.

If buying a shrimp trap or yabby pot, be sure it complies with SA rules here.

For bait, earthworms work well, but you can’t beat locally caught live shrimp.
